Angel Flake Biscuits Good
gel Biscuits
* 5 c. unsifted flour
* 1 tsp. baking soda
* 3 tsp. baking powder
* 1/4 c. sugar
* 1-1/2 tsp. salt
* 1 pkg. dry yeast
* 2 T. warm water
* 1 c. shortening
* 2 c. buttermilk
**** Note: 1 packet of yeast = 2.25 teaspoons of granulated yeast.
Sift flour, baking soda, baking powder, sugar and salt together. Dissolve yeast in water and add buttermilk. Cut shortening into dry ingredients. Stir buttermilk and yeast mixture into flour mixture; mix well. Turn out on lightly floured board and add flour, if needed, for soft dough. Roll out to 1/4-inch thick. Cut and dip in melted butter and fold over. Bake 15 minutes at 400°. Yields 5 dozen.
