Old Fashioned Egg Nog
Aunt Kathleen's Eggnog
1 dozen egg whites
1 pint whipping cream
1 dozen egg yolks
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla
2 quarts half and half
ground nutmeg
[peach brandy or dark rum]
Beat the egg whites until stiff and set aside. Beat the whipping cream until stiff and set aside. In a LARGE bowl, beat the egg yolks until creamy. Add the sugar and vanilla to the yolks and beat thoroughly. Add the half and half to the yolk mixture and beat lightly. Fold the whites and cream into the yolk mixture. Add nutmeg to taste. Gently stir in a large quantity of liquor. Fo variety I put a little orange zest and lemon zest.
