Alka's Basmati Rice
Chop and sautee one small onion in a couple of tablespoons of ghee or butter.
Be sure you have long grained Basmati rice or Texmati.
1.5 cups raw rice to 2 1/2 cups water. Salt.
put water in the pot with the onion and the rice. When it boils immediately cover and turn the fire down to low as possible. Cook for 25 mins. turn off flame leave top on to steam rice.
When you will serve take top off.
If you are going to use regular long grained rice you can do without the onion and the ratio of rice to water is: 1 cup rice to scant 2 cups water. Cooking is the same.
